Bus travel ticks the boxes for job seekers
A recent arrival in the Tees Valley Simon was still getting to grips with the distances he needs to travel here for work when he met one of our travel advisors in his local library.
Having to travel longer distances to find work is something Simon finds quite different from his previous home in the urban Midlands.
Finding your way on public transport in Tees Valley
“It’s a beautiful area.” he said, “There are lots of jobs but they are not accessible the way they are in Birmingham.”
Our travel advisors were able to introduce Simon to useful websites like the Connect Tees Valley journey planner which you can access via our site, apps like the Arriva Bus app, Stagecoach and Go North East apps and bus discounts for job seekers from Stagecoach. Job seekers can also save 50% on rail fares with a Jobcentre Plus railcard. [External links]
Bus tickets to get to work
We were also able to provide Simon with some free bus tickets to help him get to a job. Simon has also been able to find a quicker route to work saving him more than 30 minutes.
