You see so much on the school run. One parent told us: “We've walked since 2011 when my daughter started pre-school. We see the seasons change, we've seen foxes, squirrels, birds and all sorts on our walks!” View Post
Step challenge success!
Staff from workplaces across the Tees Valley have been putting their best feet forward to move more and feel happier and healthier, with the Local Motion step challenge. Here's what they've achieved so far:
99,520 miles - that's 4 times around the earth!
Here are a few of these walking champions, and what they've had to say about taking part and what they've got out of it...
"I got a bit obsessed during the challenge, had to keep checking the pedometer! I definitely walked more during the challenge, especially at home too!"
- Linda Martin, North Tees Hospital
"Taking part in the challenge helped me realise how much I don’t move when I’m sat at my desk all day. I had to make a concerted effort to go for a walk every evening."
- Allison Sudran, Redcar Primary Hospital
"I started walking my daughter to ballet on a Saturday morning, it was great to spend some quality time together. We still do it now, even though the challenge is over."
- Richard Hauxwell, Capita
"I've really got into walking since we started the challenge. It's great being outside and we have staff walks at lunchtime. I've got my children walking too - we're even going on a walking holiday this year!" - Elaine Watson, James Cook University Hospital
