The theme for this year’s Waterfront Festival in Hartlepool is the seaside. From swimming and free paddle boarding and other water-based taster sessions to art, theatre, music and food there is so much to do at the Hartlepool Waterfront Festival.
Film Friday 20 July from 5pm:
Bring a folding chair, a picnic (please no glass) and a warm coat, and enjoy three films, back to back, at the Hartlepool Waterfront.
In addition to ‘Finding Nemo’ at 5 pm and the cult classic ‘The Goonies’ at 7.10 pm, there will also be screening of Ridley Scott’s ‘Boy and Bicycle’ at 6.40 pm. Filmed in 1965 in Hartlepool this black and white film tells the story of a boy who plays truant from school to ride his bicycle all day.
Saturday and Sunday from midday
Entertainment on the weekend includes:
The Quarterdeck Programme
Outdoor experiences and theatre including giant seagulls, sweetshop gangster theatre, a show inside a whale, an audience with Elvis inside a caravan and a solar powered cinema.
Our personal favourite (of course!) is bicycle ballet, which tells the story of the bicycle’s role in women’s emancipation.
Theatre at the Mainmast Stage
A variety of music and family friendly performances including local band The Lake Poets, Tom Mouse Smith, Samantha Durnan, Talent Show, FIKA, North Road, Club Groovy, Eve Conway, Sparkle, Channy Thompson and the MTA pop choir.
The Jib pop-up Party Market
A bustling pop-up market packed full of street food, poetry, acoustic and folk music, and entertainment. For a full list of what’s on offer visit the Destination Hartlepool website.
