Cycle coast and country in Redcar
Redcar residents are lucky enough to have both beautiful countryside and beaches on their doorstep. The Redcar & Cleveland walking and cycling town centres map and rural map include traffic-free cycle paths as well as advisory cycle routes along quieter roads across Redcar & Cleveland as well as the local towns. You should be able to get a hard copy of this map from your local library. (Please let us know if you have a problem)
Cycle along the sea front between Redcar and Saltburn by the Sea
Follow the traffic free cycle path along the front between Coatham in Redcar, through Marske and Saltburn.
This 11.5 mile linear route follows National Cycle Network Route 1 along the coast and alongside the Darlington to Saltburn rail line and is marked on the Redcar & Cleveland cycling map. You should be able to get a hard copy of this map from your local library. (Please let us know if you have a problem)
You can start at either end, or just do part of it, if it’s a sunny day it is a great way to explore the beach with fish and chips available near the pier and near the toilets and car park at Saltburn as well as in Redcar.

Follow the cycle routes to Guisborough Forest marked on the Redcar & Cleveland cycling map or cycle in the forest. You should be able to get a hard copy of this map from your local library. (Please let us know if you have a problem) The forest is great place to gain cycle confidence and for children to learn to ride, the traffic free Blue Cycle Route is an easy to follow marked trail.
