Could you be eligible for a free ticket to help you find work?

Live in Redcar and don’t think you can go for a job out of town?
You could be eligible for free rail travel to help you get to job interviews that are further away!
We’re really excited about a new six-month trial deal between Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and rail company Northern providing a free pass for rail travel to an interview.
Travel can be a barrier to getting into work and it is always exciting when new initiatives like this can help.
“Someone from Redcar may have been put off applying for a job in Saltburn because of the cost of attending the interview.” says Councillor Craig Hannaway, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, “But thanks to our partners Northern Railway, they don’t need to worry any more.
“Job seekers can now apply for the job knowing their train fare to the interview is covered and they also get a feel for the regular commute should they be successful at interview.”
So who is eligible?
Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is administering the free tickets provided by Northern Railways.
Successful applicants will get a pass permitting one return journey on Northern Railway services between their home and their interview location on the date of their interview.
PLEASE NOTE: This free ticket pass must be obtained in advance!
How to apply:
To find out more and apply, call 01642 444366 or email routestoemployment@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk.
Northern are excited about it too:
Mike Patterson, Regional Director Northern Railway said, “The jobseekers partnership is a fantastic way to grow business and support people into jobs and allows them to try travelling by train before they progress into employment.
“We’re really excited about the modernisation improvements coming onto our trains and stations in the upcoming year and we’re looking forward to welcoming new commuters to experience these.”
